TRASS Premium Tablecloth
The TRASS hand-embroidered tablecloth adorns the entire table with the same design as the rest of the collection: a running stitch that follows the entire perimeter of the piece in small, regular lines.
The finish, explained for this piece
On the tablecloth, the Trass embroidery runs all around the piece – it is here, on the largest surface of the collection, that the straightness of the line is most challenging to maintain: the length of the path leaves less room for the slightest hesitation of the hand.

Trass: the origin of the design
The design that gives its name to the collection was not born in Marrakech. It comes from a much older tradition, which Valérie Barkowski discovered in India before bringing it to her workshop:
Kantha, an embroidery tradition from Bengal (India and Bangladesh), originally consisted of layering and stitching together old fabrics with a running stitch, giving them a second life. This centuries-old technique, passed down through generations of women, owes its success solely to the regularity of the hand that practices it.
« I saw the running stitch endlessly in Southern India, where embroiderers practice Kantha: a quick, freehand embroidery, using very little thread.
It was this sobriety that made me want to bring it to Marrakech. But in transposing it, our artisans made it their own: they chose to work with more thread, and the stitching, now set perfectly straight along the edge, demands a precision I hadn’t initially imagined.
What was intended as a simple and swift technique became, in their hands, an entirely new finish – almost more demanding than the one from which it drew its inspiration. This is what I appreciate about the journey of craftsmanship from one country to another: it is never merely copied; it is always reinvented.”
Coordinating with the collection
The TRASS hand-embroidered tablecloth also coordinates with the placemats and napkins from the same collection, for a perfectly harmonious table setting. It also pairs beautifully with our other table linen collections. Feel free to mix and match pieces as you wish; a beautifully set table is, above all, a matter of personal taste.
Care instructions
Cotton should be washed at 40°C on a delicate cycle, separate from very dark laundry. Air drying is preferable to tumble drying to maintain the fabric’s suppleness; a low-temperature iron will suffice afterward. The only rule to observe: no fabric softener, as it closes the fibers and reduces the longevity of textiles.
