A design born from a hotel commission
YOYO was born from a bed linen commission for a hotel project in Marrakech.
“I had designed sets for a hotel in the making in Marrakech, for someone I know. I wanted to do something different, something that reflects them and is in harmony with the place they are building.”
Designing a bed linen collection for a house that is still empty – this is the challenge that appeals to Valérie Barkowski’s creative vitality. Sometimes bed linen is not the final step in a hotel project. It can happen, as in this story, that the proposed design also provides a framework for what follows, and even a source of inspiration for completing the project. This is why Valérie wanted to work around the idea of a freehand drawing applied directly to the surface of the fabric; the twisted thread technique then imposed itself, as it offers great freedom.
Valérie then wanted to go further. The same spirit, the same spontaneous line taking over the surface, but new inspirations: ocean waves, the curves of a landscape – a variety of drawings taking shape on the fabric. It is the spontaneity of the line that gave the collection its name: YOYO.
Twisted thread: a design laid on a mercerised combed cotton surface
The YOYO collection is made in our white mercerised combed cotton, the house’s usual quality. Smooth, supple, and a pleasure to live with every day, it plays the role of a blank page here: the thread design stands out clearly against it.
The twisted thread is a house technique. It is entirely hand-twisted by the artisans in the workshop, then carefully applied to the fabric. Each line requires attention: the thread must follow the desired curve without tightening or loosening, so that the design remains crisp after use and washing.
NIL borders, YOYO draws
If you know the NIL finish, you already know the finesse of twisted thread. In our NIL collection, it runs like a fine edging along the piece, following its outline and highlighting its shape. In our YOYO collection, it has left the borders to draw across the entire surface of the duvet cover or pillowcase.
The same technique, the same gesture, but a completely different effect. Today, in our YOYO collection, twisted thread tells a story, it fills the space, and your bed becomes a true canvas.

This technique allows Valérie to do what she loves: draw freehand, without a template, without ever repeating herself mechanically.

The YOYO collection consists of duvet covers and pillowcases, rectangular or square. Like all the other pieces in our bed linen collections, the YOYO model can also be made to measure, if your bed or duvet falls outside standard sizes.

The designs in the YOYO collection are available in single colour or multicolour. Here too, the possibilities are many.

Our new YOYO collection has just come out of the workshop. It is available exclusively in our Marrakech boutique. It is an opportunity to appreciate its texture and colours in person, before giving in to the temptation to take this creation home to your bedroom, or to order your set in the colours of your choice. Some discoveries should remain the traveller’s privilege.
YOYO is available in the house’s standard sizes, as duvet covers and rectangular and square pillowcases. However, as with all our bed linen pieces, the YOYO set can be made in the dimensions of your choice. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks in most cases.

What is twisted thread?
A house embellishment technique: the thread is hand-twisted by our artisans, then carefully applied to the fabric. On the NIL finish, it borders the piece. On the YOYO finish, it draws across the entire surface.
Is there a YOYO bedding set in linen?
Yes, on request. Mercerised combed cotton remains the reference quality. However, if you prefer to sleep in linen, our YOYO collection can be ordered in this fabric. Lead time: 2 to 6 weeks.

How do I care for a mercerised combed cotton duvet cover?
Wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle, without mixing with dark laundry. Air-drying is preferable, to preserve the fabric’s body. Iron inside out on a low setting.
