“These scribbles were born from an accident. A brand new white cotton tablecloth that I adored. An indelible stain appeared. I was disheartened: how could I save it? So I took a pencil. I drew on it, almost to console myself. Lines, loops, illogical marks. I had them embroidered. The tablecloth was saved. A new collection was born.
This is often how I work. A collapsed wall, an indelible stain, an eternal flower. Accidents transform into new beginnings, constraints become material, the unforeseen opens a door.” Valérie Barkowski.
