This technique is similar to that of the Ilias and Ilan bed linens, with longer and thicker tassels here.
Born in the wake of the Lamu bath linen’s success, the Pollux collection asserted a more bohemian style from its creation, finding its audience immediately.
On the Bath Towel, the hand-embroidered tassel runs 100 cm wide at each end.
Its making requires several distinct steps: our artisans first count the threads to ensure proper density, before embroidering each tassel directly into the terry fabric.
Next comes the stitching of the tie that holds the tassel, then adjusting the length so no strand protrudes, and finally combing to give it its final drape.
This number of steps and manipulations, higher than for a classic pompom trim, explains the longer production time for this finish.
Pollux was born from a specific commission, for a house in Ibiza, at a time when Valérie Barkowski wanted to explore a different style from the rest of the Lamu collection.
Her designs often emerge this way, from a concrete need or request that triggers a creative impulse. She then imagined long tassels embroidered by hand directly into the terry fabric.
The technique is similar to that already developed for the Ilias and Ilan bed linens, but Valérie Barkowski lengthened and thickened the tassels for bath linen.
The Pollux collection was launched in 2014 and found its audience from the start, carried by its bohemian style. More than ten years after its creation, it remains a cherished piece of the house.

Dimensions remain standard: the terry is woven on large looms, and any particular size requires dedicated production, reserved for hotel projects or large-quantity orders.
The Pollux Bath Towel pairs with all the house’s bath linens.
It coordinates particularly well with the Memba and Lamu collections, for those who enjoy mixing styles rather than following a single range from floor to ceiling. Ultimately, the choice remains a matter of personal taste rather than fixed rule.
A first wash at 40°C before use reveals the terry’s full softness and absorption capacity. Separate light tones from dark tones, and machine drying restores the cotton’s full suppleness.
Fabric softeners should be avoided: they reduce cotton’s absorption capacity over time.
As for the tassels’ durability, the answer is simple: they hold up well over time, and a light combing is enough, from time to time, to restore their full luster. We use colorfast threads that retain their colors.
