OMANA Bath Mat

The Omana Bath Mat features, on a denser terry cloth than the rest of the collection, the same twisted cord that defines the Omana collection. This cord, hand-twisted by our artisans in Marrakech, edges all 4 sides of the piece and meets at each corner, where it is sewn and finished with a knot. The only piece in the collection designed for the floor, it extends the artisanal gesture from the bedroom to the bathroom.

The finish, explained for this piece

On the Bath Mat, the twisted cord edges a denser terry cloth than on the 4 other pieces, at 1100 g/m² versus 700 g/m². Two cords accompany this piece, like the Bath Towel, versus three on the Bath Sheet and Shower Sheet, and only one on the Guest Towel.

This thickness requires the same dexterity from the artisan as on the other pieces, but on a firmer material to work with: at the 4 corners, the cords meet, are sewn together and finish with a knot, without the density of the terry cloth weighing down the gesture.

Placed on the floor rather than worn on the skin, this piece exposes its edging to a different use than the 4 others: the twisted cord must maintain its structure under repeated foot traffic, while preserving the same visual consistency as the rest of the collection.

The birth of the Omana collection, as told by Valérie Barkowski

A client once asked her for a proposal for bed linen and bath linen for a place with a personal and unique character, which will be revealed later. For this hospitality project, budget remained, as often, a central criterion. Valérie Barkowski then proposed working with the Yoyo model for the bed, using a twisted thread.

This is how Omana was born: a direct response to this twisted-thread bed linen, designed to extend the same artisanal touch to the bathroom. Omana became the house’s first bath linen collection to feature a passementerie finish, a technique previously reserved for bed linen.

Composing your bathroom

The Omana Bath Mat completes the entire bathroom linen collection. It can also be chosen alongside bed linen with passementerie finish (Nil, Yoyo, Yumi, Aya), or another bath finish like Memba and Lamu, for an Omana touch on the floor without the obligation to follow a single range, from the floor to the rest of the bathroom.

Care

Wash at 40°C, tumble drying recommended to preserve the volume of the thick terry cloth. Separate light tones from dark tones, and gentle iron pressing completes the care if needed. Fabric softeners should be avoided, as they reduce the cotton’s absorption capacity. The twisted cord maintains its durability underfoot, wash after wash, without losing its original color.
