TRASS Duvet Cover

Price range: € 210,00 through € 325,00

The TRASS Duvet Cover, crafted from white mercerized combed cotton, is hand-embroidered by our artisans in our Marrakech workshop. A running stitch design runs along all four sides – small lines measuring 3 to 5 mm, inspired by Kantha, the traditional embroidery of Southern India.

Made to order, it requires 2 to 4 weeks for production before shipping.

TRASS Duvet Cover

On the TRASS Duvet Cover, the running stitch borders each side of the piece with small, hand-embroidered lines: this distinctive stitched line gives the entire collection its name.

The finish, explained for this piece

As with the pillowcase, the Trass embroidery here borders all four sides of the duvet cover – unlike the flat sheet, where it is limited to the width. The precision required for such a straight line across such a wide perimeter makes this design more demanding than it appears.

TRASS: The Origin of the Design

The name Trass comes from the stitched line itself – a small, neat, and regular trace. Yet, one must journey to India to discover its origin:

Kantha originated in Bengal, between India and Bangladesh: in villages, women would layer and stitch together old fabrics with a running stitch to give them a second life. This age-old expertise relies on a minimal technique – the simplest stitch imaginable – yet, to remain harmonious, it demands a steady hand and great regularity.

« I saw the running stitch endlessly in Southern India, where embroiderers practice Kantha: a quick, freehand embroidery, using very little thread.

It was this very sobriety that inspired me to bring it to Marrakech.

But in transposing it, our artisans made it their own: they chose to work with more thread, and the line—now laid perfectly straight along the edge—demands a precision I hadn’t imagined at the outset.

What was intended as a simple and swift technique became, in their hands, an entirely new finish – almost more demanding than the one from which it drew its inspiration. This is what I appreciate about the journey of craftsmanship from one country to another: it is never merely copied; it is always reinvented.”

Coordinating with the Collection

The TRASS Duvet Cover coordinates seamlessly with all our house collections, without restriction. It displays a particular affinity for our most understated finishes, such as Dots or Yumi, which are devoid of embroidery. As with all our pieces, mixing remains a matter of personal taste – allowing everyone the freedom to compose their own sanctuary.

Care

Wash at 40°C on a delicate cycle. Air drying recommended. Avoid fabric softeners. This particularly durable finish also passes professional laundry tests used in hotel laundries – a true asset for hospitality projects.
